# Travel phone preparation checklist

Prepare your phone before travelling: offline information, charging, connectivity, account access and a plan if the device is lost.

## Save what you need offline

- [ ] Save tickets and booking confirmations in an accessible offline format
- [ ] Download maps for the areas you will visit
- [ ] Save accommodation addresses and local transport directions
- [ ] Save useful contact numbers with the appropriate country codes
- [ ] Download any language tools you expect to need
- [ ] Keep a separate copy of essential contact and booking details

## Check access and power

- [ ] Check your mobile plan’s roaming coverage and charges for the destination
- [ ] Check device compatibility before buying a local SIM or eSIM
- [ ] Check how you will receive account verification codes while abroad
- [ ] Bring a suitable charger, cable and plug adapter
- [ ] Charge your power bank and check transport rules before packing it
- [ ] Free enough storage for photos, tickets and downloaded information

## Protect the device and prepare a backup plan

- [ ] Install available security updates before departure
- [ ] Set a strong screen lock and review what notifications reveal when locked
- [ ] Back up important files and photos before travelling
- [ ] Check device-location and remote-lock features and how to access them from another device
- [ ] Avoid sensitive activity on untrusted networks and confirm connection details with the venue
- [ ] Keep the phone secure in public and agree a way to contact someone if it is lost
