# Winter houseplant care checklist

Adjust indoor plant care for winter: check light, watering needs, heating exposure and leaf condition without using a fixed routine for every plant.

## Review each plant

- [ ] Identify the plants and their individual care needs
- [ ] Check how much daylight each position receives
- [ ] Move suitable plants towards brighter indirect light
- [ ] Keep foliage away from cold window glass
- [ ] Keep pots away from direct radiator heat
- [ ] Check for cold draughts around the plants

## Adjust watering

- [ ] Check the growing medium before watering
- [ ] Adjust watering to the plant rather than a fixed calendar
- [ ] Check that drainage holes are clear
- [ ] Empty standing water from saucers after watering
- [ ] Review feeding needs for the plant’s winter growth
- [ ] Note plants that dry unusually quickly near heating

## Keep track of condition

- [ ] Remove dust gently from suitable leaves
- [ ] Inspect leaf undersides for pests
- [ ] Remove fallen leaves from the pot surface
- [ ] Check room conditions against species requirements
- [ ] Record persistent changes in leaf colour or growth
- [ ] Schedule a short regular check of the collection
