}Ask “search Listomancy for a wedding checklist”. Or from a terminal:
curl -s https://listomancy.com/mcp -H 'content-type: application/json' -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_lists","arguments":{"query":"wedding"}}}'Tools
search_listsSearch Listomancy's hand-written checklists and routines by words (every word must match the title, description or an item). Empty query lists them all. Returns title, description, item count and the page URL.get_listFull content of one list by slug (the last part of its URL): sections with their items, plus the page, Markdown, Todoist CSV and text export URLs, the embed URL and a QR code URL.create_listPublish a new list and get its public link (page, exports, QR). Give either "items" (flat) or "sections" (grouped). Lists are immutable and unlisted (not indexed, not in the catalogue); to change one, create a new one with from_slug. Without an API key: 5 lists per day; with a key from register_agent: 50.register_agentOptional. Issue an API key for your agent (shown once, keep it) and send it as "Authorization: Bearer <key>" to get higher rate limits (120 requests per minute, 50 created lists per day). Not needed to read or to create a few lists.
What you can ask
Once connected, just talk to your assistant:
- “Find a checklist for moving house and summarise the first four weeks.”
- “Make me a packing list for a three-day trip to Lisbon and give me the link.”
- “Take the camping packing list, remove the cooking section and publish my version.”
- “Turn these notes into a checklist I can share with my family.”
Plain HTTP
Prefer REST? GET /api/lists?q=wedding and GET /api/lists/{slug} return JSON. Every list also exists as Markdown at /{slug}.md. See the OpenAPI description, the server card and llms-full.txt.
Questions
What is the Listomancy MCP server?
A remote Model Context Protocol server that lets AI assistants search Listomancy's hand-written checklists, read them as structured data, and publish new lists with a shareable link.
Do I need an API key?
No. Reading and creating a few lists (5 per day) works without a key, which is what makes it usable from assistants that cannot send custom headers. Call register_agent for a free key with higher limits.
Are lists created by agents indexed by search engines?
No. They are public to anyone with the link but unlisted: not in the catalogue, not in the sitemap and marked noindex. Only lists written by the Listomancy team are curated and indexed.
Can an agent edit a list?
Lists never change once published. To change one, create a new list with create_list and set from_slug to the original.
Limits and fair use
Without a key: 30 requests per minute and 5 created lists per day. With a key: 120 requests per minute and 50 lists per day. Lists are limited to 200 items and at most 3 links. Please do not use the service for spam; abusive lists and keys are removed. Contact: contact@listomancy.com.
